Dollar edges down as markets close for Christmas

Dollar fell against most major rivals on Monday amid calm electronic trading as investors take time off to celebrate Christmas. 

The stock closures span London, Frankfort, Paris, Milano, Zurich, Australia, and New Zealand, in addition to North America.

Stock markets will reopen in the US on Tuesday, but other European and Canadian markets will remain closed today. 

US Dollar

On trading, the dollar fell 0.1% against a basket of major rivals as of 17:35 GMT to 101.7, with a session-high at 101.9, and a low at 101.4.

Canadian dollar rose 0.1% against its US counterpart to 0.75422. 

Australian Dollar

AUD/USD stabilized at 0.6803 as of 17:46 GMT.


EUR/USD rose 0.3% as of 17:46 GMT to 1.1051.
